Crescent Towing was honored to serve as co-host and sponsor of the 2018 Maritime Endeavors Seminar held in Athens, Greece, in November. Representing Crescent at the event were Philip Katz and Andrew Cooper, who led discussions with New Orleans port stakeholders and Greek shipowners and operators, and participated in panels looking back at last year’s high river season. The seminar was held on two consecutive days and had well over 200 Greek shipowners and operators in attendance. A variety of regulatory topics were discussed that were relevant to all vessels calling the Mississippi River “home”.

Such a seminar is only possible if the United States Coast Guard obtains permission from Washington, D.C., to attend. The last seminar was held five years ago. Fortunately, U.S. Coast Guard’s 8th District Commander Admiral Paul Thomas was in attendance for 2018. Also in attendance: Captain of the Port Kristi Luttrell (Sector N.O.); and Chief of Inspections Cdr. Jason Boyle. Representing local state river pilots was Captain Michael Miller (Associated Branch Pilots) and Captain Michael Bopp (Crescent River Pilots).
